5 months January – June 2025
Lina is an open and independent student.
She is a keen swimmer, and her other hobbies include reading, listening to music and playing the piano. She often babysits in her spare time.
Lina likes to help others and shows this through her roles as a swimming coach and assistant Scout leader.
Lina loves to spend time with family and friends, and she enjoys being outdoors just as much as she enjoys playing board games or watching a movie at home.

Lina A. from Switzerland
Lina is a friendly and outgoing student who excels academically. She enjoys socialising, playing instruments, and outdoor activities like skating. Lina is adaptable, independent, and values family and friendships. She’s very determined and self-motivated: her main instrument is the recorder, but she taught herself guitar and piano to extend her musical skills further! During her exchange, she’s hoping to improve her English skills, make loads of new friends, and broaden her horizons by experiencing a new culture.

Maya is responsible, independent and open to new experiences. Initially shy, she’s warm and friendly once comfortable.
She loves cooking for her friends and family. Maya’s other hobby is horse riding, and she shares in the care of a horse at a nearby stable.
Maya enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, and she is especially close to her younger sister.

11 months January – December 2025
Arkaedi is calm and compassionate. He loves learning (especially about foreign countries and cultures)and trying new things.
In his spare time, Arkaedi enjoys writing, baking, martial arts and tabletop games.
Family time is important to Arkaedi, and his cat is also a very important member of the family!

Valentina is a dedicated student. She’s passionate about her studies – particularly physics, mathematics and languages (English and French). She can be shy when you first meet her, but she’s a talkative and cheerful person once you get to know her.
Valentina enjoys watching TV, Disney movies and spending time with her family and friends.
She’s excited to come to New Zealand and is looking forward to many new experiences.

Clara is a responsible student and likes school, where she has many good friends.
Outside of school, Clara is a competitive gymnast. Training most days, she is very disciplined and dedicated to her sport.
On the weekends, she likes to hang out with her friends and also enjoys outdoor activities.
Travelling is her other passion, and she is looking forward to discovering New Zealand.

Rafael is a sociable and communicative student. He enjoys discussing a wide variety of topics, including sports, politics and movies.
His other hobbies include football, basketball, video games – and sometimes he likes some quiet time alone to listen to music.
Rafael is looking forward to coming to New Zealand to learn about our culture, customs and to try new food.

Janja is a cheerful and open-minded student. She enjoys meeting new people and loves making others laugh. Janja’s hobbies include climbing, swimming and Scouts. She also likes outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, reading, and video games.
Her mother and brother are AFS returnees, and she hopes to carry on the family tradition with her own AFS experience in New Zealand.

Yui is a calm and positive person. She values close relationships with her friends and family and likes to spend quality time with them.
She’s an active member of her city’s multicultural group and has participated in a short-term exchange with their sister city in the USA. At school, Yui is part of the English Club.
She is looking forward to discovering New Zealand’s culture and meeting the people of Aotearoa!
