This Mitsui Resources scholarship has been developed for students of employees at Dawson, Kestrel and Capcoal mines & a student of Moura State High School. The participant will live with a local AFS host family and visit the Mitsui Resources offices in Tokyo.

Scholarship Value and What's Included

Sponsored by Mitsui Resources, this scholarship provides the four-week programme at no cost to the participant.

(Scholarship value: $12,500)

  • All domestic and international flights and transfers
  • Host family placement – homestay with all meals included during 4 week stay
  • Pre-departure, on arrival and end of stay orientation
  • 24/7 support from AFS Japan and AFS New Zealand
  • Comprehensive medical and personal liability insurance
Japan

Eligibility

  • Aged between 15.6 and 18.6 years old at the start of the programme
    Studying in Year 9, 10 or 11
  • Currently studying Japanese, have previously studied Japanese or willing to start studying Japanese prior to the start of the programme. AFS will provide free online resources to the students.
  • Have an interest in Japanese culture and language
  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Capable of adjusting to new experiences and environments and open to adjusting to cultural difference.
  • Provide a scholarship report at the end of the programme within two weeks of returning home
  • Family member of a permanent employee who works for MITSUI RESOURCES PTY LTD joint venture mines: Dawson, Kestrel and Capcoal mines.

This scholarship is fully funded by MITSUI RESOURCES PTY LTD exclusively for children of permanent employee’s of Mitsui’s joint venture mines or a student at Moura State High School.  The winning student will spend 4 weeks in Japan learning Japanese language & culture and living with a Japanese family.
