Swedish Global Choice exchange student Axel was exited to represent Aotea College in the Coast to Coast multisport endurance event last month. His student team of three ran, cycled and kayaked a total distance of 243 kilometres over 2 days. Starting on the West Coast, then through the mountains of the Southern Alps and across the Canterbury Plains to New Brighton.

Axel, who kayaked 70 kilometres, felt it was such a massive achievement to be involved, both as an exchange student and also being able to experience such a beautiful part of New Zealand. And to top it all off, his team won their category! They had a huge amount of support behind them from their school and the community, even receiving a personal message of encouragement from Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Congratulations to Axel and the team.  It’s always wonderful to see AFS students get involved and make the most of their experiences in New Zealand and abroad.
