Avya from India

Avya is a bright and motivated student. She is a national-level gymnast and is used to balancing a busy schedule of training and study. Avya also enjoys reading, swimming, hiking and playing badminton as well as spending quality time with family and friends. At school, Avya is especially interested in psychology and criminology. She is looking forward to coming to New Zealand to form new connections and immerse herself in a new culture.

Julie from Japan

With parents who are from China and being born in Japan, Julie has grown up immersed in two cultures. Julie has a love for music as she plays the trumpet in her school’s brass band, and she loves listening to K-pop. At home, she is actively involved in her school community as the secretary of the festival committee.

Julie is currently attending Rolleston College, and she is now looking for a new Host Family for the 2nd part of her programme
