This unique programme provides participants with the opportunity to learn about India and its people, culture and lifestyle while giving back to their host communities through volunteering. Volunteering opportunities are available in the fields of Early Childhood Education, Healthcare, Women Empowerment and WASH (Health & Hygiene), entrepreneurship and more, depending on your interests.
You will live with a host family and volunteer in a local community-based enterprise chosen according to your interests and skills. Unlike other providers, AFS host families are not paid. Your host family volunteer because they want to build connections with the international AFS community! This hosting experience for 18+ programmes is unique to AFS India.
Before your departure, you will also receive AFS International’s state-of-the-art intercultural learning programme, which prepares you to successfully navigate new cultural environments during your AFS experience and long after you finish the programme. Online intercultural learning modules combined with in-person sessions help you develop practical and global skills, knowledge and attitudes that employers need and mission-driven organisations believe will help achieve their social impact goals. You will receive your certification upon completion of the training programme.
