AFS Maori Scholarship
About this scholarship
AFS New Zealand is offering a scholarship for a Maori student to take up the challenge to live and study overseas. The scholarship is valued at $7,500 for a year or semester programme.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for this scholarship students must:
- be a full time student and meet the AFS application guidelines
- be of Maori descent and demonstrate their whakapapa
- demonstrate involvement in Maori culture and / or language
- demonstrate a need for financial assistance
What countries are available?
This scholarship is available for exchanges to any AFS countries.
How to apply
- be selected for an exchange and complete the AFS scholarship application form (141KB MS Word) as part of the AFS application
- demonstrate Maori genealogy by providing a copy of your birth certificate and / or the birth certificate of their parent(s), grandparent(s), or great-grandparent(s)
- write a 200 word statement describing your involvement with Maori culture and / or language
- demonstrate a need for financial assistance and complete a 200 word statement on "Why I need an AFS scholarship"
