Glen Houlihan


"I have been a host father and Chapter Treasurer and enjoyed my time doing both. I am new to the board in 2011 and bring with me experience in Information Technology and Business. I do enjoy reading, rock'n'roll dancing, and spending time with my family."

Lyn Riesterer


"I am an AFS returnee, having spent a year in the USA from 1975 to 1976. Upon my return, I got involved with the Christchurch chapter in a number of different capacities including committee work, selection and as vice president. I spent some time living in England and returned to New Zealand in 1999 and settled in Opotiki. I helped to re-establish an AFS chapter in Eastern Bay of Plenty and was later elected to the AFS New Zealand Board. I was elected to the Board for a second time in 2010. Outside of AFS, I have worked part time as a teacher at Opotiki College since 2001, where I am now the Gateway Coordinator. Today I continue to live happily at home in Opotiki, with my partner Katerina. Ngatipatumoana toku hapu, te Whakatohea toku iwi, Mataatua toku waka. Tena koutou katoa."

Rachel Murray


"I am currently employed as the team leader in an organisation involved in facilitating people to serve in voluntary roles overseas. I have science and theology degrees and have worked in the forestry/horticultural industry and in administration in the tertiary education and overseas recruitment fields. I am an AFS returnee from Honduras in 1989 and have been a volunteer at local and national levels since 1993. I have served on the board for a total of eight years, the last three as chairperson. Beyond work and AFS, I am involved in mentoring programmes and enjoy spending time with friends and family."

Rosemary Isherwood


"I believe that the AFS vision of peace through understanding is even more relevant today than when AFS was founded over 60 years ago. I am involved with the local AFS Auckland chapters and have been on the Board since 2008. My professional background is in accounting and my voluntary AFS experience has enriched myself and my family."

Steven Paul


"Since my formative exchange year in Belgium I have volunteered my time and passion for AFS in both the South Canterbury and Otago Chapters in various roles. While in Otago, I graduated with a double degree in Law and Commerce (International Business). I am currently living in Christchurch and working for an accounting firm (Deloitte). I have served on the AFS board for 5 years."
